Password (optional): (leave blank)
Checkmark: Remember my sign-in info
After the VPN connection is created, click Change adapter options
Right-click on KDC VPN (or whatever you called it) and left-click Properties
Click the Options tab.
Change Idle time before hanging up to 1 hour
Click the Security tab.
Data encryption: Set to Require encryption (disconnect if server declines)
Checkmark: Allow these protocols: Check: Unencrypted password (PAP) Uncheck: Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) Uncheck: Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)
Click the Advanced settings button
Under the Use preshared key for authentication type the key here as well: lrh123!
Click OK and close all windows
Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> View network status
Click Connect to a workplace
Click Use my Internet connection (VPN)
Set the following and click Next:
Internet address: vpn.kdclinic.com
Destination name: KDC VPN Uncheck: Use a smart card Uncheck: Allow other people to use this connection Uncheck: Don't connect now
Connect to a Workplace - Set the following and click Create:
User name: UserName (e.g. JohnDoe)
Password: (leave blank) Uncheck: Show characters Uncheck: Remember this password
Domain (optional): DomainName (e.g. KDC)
The connection is ready to use - Click Close
Network and Sharing Center - Click Change adapter settings
Right-click on KDC VPN and left-click on Properties
General tab - Verify address is vpn.kdclinic.com
Options tab - Make sure to Uncheck the "Include Windows logon domain" option
Options tab - Change Idle time before hanging up to 1 hour and CheckRedial if line is dropped
Security tab - Change Type of VPN to Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPSec)
Security tab - Check Unencrypted password (PAP), Uncheck all other methods (CHAP and MS-CHAP v2)
Security tab - Click the Advanced settings button, select Use preshared key for authentication and set the key to lrh123!
