GE PACS Installation Help

Overview

GE PACS has been upgraded from version 3.7.3.9078 to 6.0.185.6370 on October 25, 2016 between 7pm and 2am

This means the ActiveX controls for Internet Explorer will need to be updated in order for the image viewer to work correctly. These instructions will help clarify the steps needed for a successful upgrade on your PC.

If you have a KDC PACS shortcut already on your desktop, that will not change. If you do not have a shortcut, you can create one to the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer and pass it the parameter of https://pacs.kdclinic.com

PACS Support Form - Use this page to submit info about images that are having issues such as not linking in the EMR or missing dictation. NOTE: You have to be on our internal network for this to work.

Requirements

Normal Upgrade Instructions

  1. Right-click on the Internet Explorer shortcut and "Run as Administrator" and make sure the browser goes to https://pacs.kdclinic.com
  2. If the browser complains about the SSL certificate (e.g. connection not secure), continue anyway. We will get the SSL certificate installed as soon as possible.
  3. When you login to PACS, use the same ID you have used prior to the upgrade, however, your password will be set to a generic password that will be sent in an email. Once you login with the temp password, you will be forced to change it. It is recommended to set it to what your password used to be before the upgrade.
  4. Once you access pacs.kdclinic.com, IE should prompt you to install ActiveX controls. Allow it to do so and let it run for about 6 minutes.
  5. Once the upgrade is finished, be sure to clear Internet Explorer's browsing cache. (see section below for details instructions)

Manual Upgrade Instructions

If the normal upgrade procedure fails to work, you can follow these instructions to install the ActiveX components manually.

  1. Download UVWebClientInstaller.exe (83.4 MB) and install it 1st.
  2. If you burn CD-ROMs, download MivCdrSetup.exe (20.5 MB) and install it 2nd.
  3. Once the upgrade is finished, be sure to clear Internet Explorer's browsing cache. (see section below for details instructions)

Clear Internet Explorer Browser Cache

If your patient list does not completely load, or if your right-click function is not enabled, or if you are getting a mix of the new and old GE PACS icons, you will need to do the following:

  3. Under the General tab, click the "Settings" button in the Browser History section
  4. Enable "every time I visit the webpage"
  5. Click the "view objects" button, press CTRL+A to select all files, CTRL+D to delete, select "Yes" to move files to recycle bin and close the opened folder.
  6. Click the "view files" button, press CTRL+A to select all files, CTRL+D to delete, select "Yes" to move files to recycle bin and close the opened folder.
  7. Click the OK button to close Internet Options

Trouble-shooting Problems

Error: Failure to write to a TEMP folder

If you see a message similar to the above, you will need to logout of your account (even if you have admin rights) and login as the actual "administrator" account and go through the upgrade process again.

Web page cannot be displayed (using Windows 10)

If you are using Windows 10, there is a good chance Microsoft forced a patch on the system that breaks PACS connectivity. One way around it is to use Google Chrome browser with an "IE Tab" plugin which will bypass the security issue. Here is the IE Tab documentation page which explains in detail how it can be used. Be sure to start Chrome with "Run as Administrator" the 1st time so it can install the ActiveX controls.
